Surface cleaning paper

We recently ordered some draft clean powder for our paper
conservation studio which I've discovered is rubber based.  I've
never used this and I'm concerned about how any residues are going
to age or otherwise affect the paper adversely.  The alternative is
a vegetable oil based product but is there one which does not
contain traces of sulphur? Is there any recent research on surface
cleaning materials for paper as the literature I have does not
answer my queries?
