Exterior terra cotta ornaments

From: Jane Tisdale <jtisdale>

Several terra cotta friezes decorate the exterior of this
hundred-year old sandstone building. Recommendations have been made
by an engineering consultant to consolidate cracked and unstable
areas of the terra cotta, fill losses and to remove dark deposits by
"gentle washing". A product called JAHN M-100 has been recommended
as a filler and consolidant. Does anyone have experience with this
material and information about its properties? Are there other
consolidants which should be considered? What are the acceptable
methods/materials for cleaning terra cotta (slip glaze surface)?
Advice is appreciated.
