The National Trust wishes to appoint a conservator to be responsible
for the conservation of the collections displayed in historic houses
in its Kent and East Sussex Region.

The Region's properties and important collections--from houses such
as Knole (the Sackvilles), Chartwell (Churchill), Bateman's
(Kipling), Sissinghurst (Vita Sackville West) and Smallhythe (Ellen
Terry)--offer an outstanding opportunity to combine professional
expertise and interpersonal skills. This important role has key
responsibility for preventive conservation and related functions at
properties throughout the region. The work is wide ranging, from
coordinating in situ conservation work to project management, from
advice on the protection of contents during building works to
environmental monitoring and control.

A degree in conservation or equivalent professional qualification
and 3 to 5 years experience are essential but equal importance is
placed on the ability to promote the interests of conservation and
to motivate, teach and develop staff involved in
conservation-related activities at properties throughout the region.

Starting salary circa Sterling 17,000 p/a,  applicants must be
entitled to take up employment in the EC.
