Subject: Internships at Missouri Historical Society
The Missouri Historical Society (MHS) is offering two graduate-level conservation internships for the Summer of 1998. MHS is mid-way through a major building expansion project which includes new exhibition spaces scheduled to open in the Fall of 1999. A disciplined, innovative and light-hearted conservation intern is needed to assist the Objects Conservator on a multitude of conservation projects ranging from treatments, exhibit materials testing, exhibit/conservation case design--all in preparation for a three-gallery, 18,000 square-foot exhibit on the history of St. Louis. This is an excellent opportunity to get some very practical, "real" experience in a large, creative and fast-paced history museum setting. Another conservation intern, preferably with a serious research interest in metals and/or ethnographic materials, is needed to work almost exclusively on the preparation of an important travelling exhibit on the Lewis and Clark expedition--scheduled to open in 2003. Both internship stipends are $3,500 for eight weeks. Start and completion dates are flexible. For further details, please contact: Nicola Longford Missouri Historical Society P.O.
