Kirby vacuum cleaners

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts regarding using a Kirby vacuum
cleaner for collections maintenance?  For cleaning textiles, for dusting
shelves and ceiling edges and corners of a storage or exhibit area?  It is
said to clean 12" deep and emits no dust back into the air.  Would this be
a good route for a special collections repository that has all sorts of
media (papers, photos, books, ceramic vessels, lithics, Navajo weavings,
kachinas, etc>), or is there something better?  Our small hand-held
vacuum cleaner (akin to the Data-Vac in the Gaylord catalog) doesn't seem
to have much suction/cleaning power.  Thank you,
