Thursday, December 12
3-5 p.m.

Valuation--How do you determine the value of special collections in
small and medium size libraries? The workshop will focus on unusual
formats--objects, photographs, snuff boxes, clocks, false teeth--not
just books and paper.

This workshop will address the following topics:

    * What kinds of questions to ask an appraiser--for insurance,
        risk management, exhibition loans, donor relations

    * Who needs to be involved in preparation for the appraiser's visit

    * What they will ask you

    * Understanding the vocabulary of an appraisal

    *   Fees and premiums

    * How to reach an acceptable level of coverage

and more. Bring your questions.
