Subject: Positions at Shelburne Museum
Textile Conservator The Shelburne Museum is seeking applicants for a full time textile conservator. This 18 month position is partially funded by an Institute of Museum Services Conservation Project Support Grant. The conservator will be responsible for conducting a detailed conservation condition survey of approximately 775 bedcovers and performing remedial treatments on selected bedcovers. Candidates must have a graduate degree in conservation specializing in textile conservation or equivalent training. Preference will be given to candidates with 1-3 years of experience working in historic textile conservation. Collections Care Specialist A part time (3 day/week) collections care specialist is also sought to assist with this 18 month textile conservation survey and treatment project. Candidates should have a bachelors degree or equivalent, experience in handling works of art, and good sewing skills. This is an ideal position for a textiles studies, studio art, or art history graduate interested in gaining experience necessary to apply to one of the conservation graduate training programs.
