Guidelines for digital imaging

The Museum of New Zealand is developing conservation guidelines for
digital imaging of its collection.  Are there  adequate references
on the topic?. Has anyone been involved in the process of setting
guidelines for photographers handling collection items?  Any help
very gratefully received.
