The Anthropology Department, National Museum of Natural History,
Smithsonian, is planning a two year project to research the history
and composition of Chinese papers, and also to preserve its Chinese
paper-based collections. The project would require a paper
conservator to survey, treat, and re-house the collection.  The
project will also include a literature survey on techniques of
Chinese paper-making; characterization of Chinese specialty papers
using analytical techniques; and development of a finder's guide for
the collection.  This is a one year position which may be renewed
for a second year pending approvals.  Please send inquiries to:
