Subject: Publication on preservation of library materials in South East Asia
Preservation of Library Materials in South East Asia: issues, workshops and institutions by Wendy Smith has just been published in the ALIA occasional paper series. In her preface the author writes "This is my version of the Preservation Management Workshops sponsored by the Asia Pacific Special Interest Group (APSIG) of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) held in Southeast Asia during the period 1992-94. The workshops were funded by the Australian International Development Assistance Bureau (AIDAB), now AusAID, through its Professional Associations International Development Scheme (PAIDS) program." Workshops and seminars were held in both Southeast Asia and the Pacific, and Wendy Smith coordinated all four courses held under the project. The Southeast Asian courses were held at the National Library of Thailand and the National Library of Vietnam. Copies are available from ALIA for A$20 including postage for non-ALIA members.
