Pigments used by Serusier

From: Linda Waters <ngvcons>
Date: Wednesday, July 3, 1996
I am currently looking at the pigments used by Paul Serusier in
"Boys Bathing", which is dated 1906. I am interested in both the
pigments he used at this time, and earlier in his career,
particularly around the late 1880's.

Our painting is in distinct layers, the lower one probably being
much earlier than the upper layer. In addition to other research, I
was also hoping to be able to correlate information from other dated
works with that from pigment analysis on our painting to ascertain
the time of the earlier layer. Consequently I would be very keen
to hear from anyone who has taken cross-sections or undertaken
pigment analysis on his work.
