The Library of Congress requires the design, fabrication and installation of two self-contained, environmentally controlled exhibition cases that will attractively display, on a rotating basis, some of America's greatest document and book treasures to the highest preservation and security standards. Environmental systems incorporated into the cases shall allow temperature, relative humidity, pollutant and lighting controls independent of the exhibition hall's ambient conditions. The cases shall protect the treasures against security threats, such as defacement, theft, water, smoke, fire, firearms, etc. The cases will be used in a major, multi-year exhibition, "The Treasures of the Library of Congress," which will open in April 1997. The two cases are to be aesthetically compatible with the basic design for the Treasures exhibition, the other surrounding cases and the architecture of the Thomas Jefferson Building, Washington, D.C. Interested parties may obtain the solicitation document upon written request to the Contracting officer, facsimile 202-707-8611. Time is of the essence (0053).
