Meeting on preservation of Icelandic materials

The Scandinavian Discussion Group of WESS (Western European
Specialists Section, Association of College and Research Libraries,
ALA) will meet on Sunday, 7 July, from 4:30 to 5:30 at the Sheraton
New York Empire, 53rd Street and 7th Avenue.

The proposed order of the meeting is 1) business of the Scan DG
(15-20 minutes) and 2) a presentation by Barbara E Berger and
Patrick J Stevens (40-45 minutes, with, I hope, some time for
questions and discussion) on progress in the NEH-funded project to
enhance access to and preserve materials in the Fiske Icelandic
Collection, Cornell University Library. Slides will illustrate part
of the presentation. I hope that this presentation will engender
discussion of preservation issues in specialised collections,
Nordic/Scandinavian, etc.

The meeting is open to all interested parties, especially those
concerned with preservation and access for special collections.
