The use of digital technology raises many issues not least of which
are the preservation implications for library and archive
collections.

The conference aims to give a practical insight into the basic
principles of digital archiving - image creation and capture,
indexing and cataloguing, archiving and data management and
provision of access followed by case study analyses of a variety of
digital projects.

Other topics will include copyright and the longterm preservation of
digital materials.

>From a broader perspective there will be a wide ranging discussion
of the various initiatives being formulated nationally and
internationally and an examination of cooperative ventures presently
being undertaken.

The conference is aimed at librarians, archivists and others
responsible for setting up and administering digitisation
programmes.

Speakers will include national and international experts.

A small exhibition will accompany the conference.
