Preservation Librarian Oberlin College The Oberlin College Library welcomes applications for the position of Preservation Librarian. This is a 12 month, half-time Administrative and Professional Staff position reporting to the Director of Libraries. Available: Summer 1996 Responsibilities: Responsible for coordinating and supervising preservation and conservation programs and policies for the library system, including preservation education for staff and users, disaster preparedness, a conservation mending lab for circulating and rare materials, and a reformatting and deacidification program. Supervises two part-time assistants plus student workers. Interacts with library staff in all departments and serves on library committees. Helps to write grant proposals and is active in regional and national preservation and conservation organizations. Qualifications: MLS from an ALA accredited library school or the equivalent in training or experience; knowledge and proficiency in library preservation and conservation; demonstrated supervisory ability; ability to work independently and with others in supporting a team approach; evidence of initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness in past activities; strong service orientation; strong planning and organizational skills; commitment to professional development.
