Program on audiovisual materials

"Care of AV Materials:  A Stake in the Future

Problems involved in caring for audio-visual materials will be the
topic of a half-day program held in conjunction with the annual
spring meeting of the Conference of Inter-Mountain Archivists on
Friday, June 7, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Care of Audio-Visual Materials:  A Stake in the Future? consists of
two sessions.  In the first, the special problems encountered in
moving image collections will be discussed by Helene Whitson of San
Francisco State University.  A panel discussion by and for the
various stakeholders in the preservation of magnetic and
photographic media will follow.  Larry Gates (Metal Edge West),
Christine Marin (LDS Church Historical Dept. Archives), Jim Wheeler
(VidiPax), and Helene Whitson will be on the panel.

A special registration is being offered to individuals who wish to
attend only the AV materials program. Pre-registration materials for
the CIMA meeting (June 4?8) and the special sessions will be out by
