Subject: Removing PVA
Can anyone suggest suitable solvents for the removal of old, non-water reversible, bookbinder's PVA adhesives that have been used on the back of bound sections? A bookbinder colleague tells me that he has found the likes of Pliansolve (a thinner usually used in connection with Pliantex, a restorative for leather damaged by red rot) but wonders if some other product might better suit. Might enzymes be used and if so what type would be best?
