Subject: Small books
Presently I have a client with many of the Better Little Books published in 1940-50. I would like to ask for any assistance in their conservation. Each is 3.5" wide x 4.5" tall x 1.25" high. They are all paper. They are bound in chipboard that is covered with what appears to be clay coated stock that has been bleed printed. Pages are all newsprint. Pages are in signatures and what appears to be perfect bound. The books, besides exhibiting the usual signs of over-handling and neglect, are fragile and will not tolerate much exercise. They should, it seems, at least be deacidified. My advance thanks for any and all assistance in this matter.
