The following announcement of an RFP for conversion of microfilm to digital
images might be of interest to DistList subscribers.  All inquiries and

    D- Digital Images From Microfilm SOL RFP96-5 DUE 031996 POC
    Helen S. Mathura, Contracting Officer, 202-707-8609.  The
    Library of Congress (LC) has a requirement to digitize portions
    of its retrospective 35mm microfilm collection in order to
    permit the dissemination of its content online as a part of the
    National Digital Library Program.  The microfilm of the
    historical collections which will be selected for scanning was
    produced by the LC Photoduplication Service between 1950 and
    1994.  The scanned images must also be logically named and/or
    numbered and delivered on write-once CD-ROM disks. An indefinite
    quantity task order contract with a base and 4 option years is
    anticipated.  A preproposal conference shall be held on February
    15, 1996. Requests for the solicitation to be issued
    approximately January 30, 1996 must be in writing and may be
