How will the library community learn about and teach digital imaging and the preservation of electronic records? Come to a discussion session in San Antonio January 18 to give your viewpoint at "Bit by Byte: Teaching Digitization and Preservation of Electronic Records." The Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) Preservation Special Interest Group (SIG) will feature a group discussion of the methods, messages, and materials which are being used to teach the concepts and practical applications of digitization for preservation and access, and for teaching about electronic records preservation. Tom Clareson, Preservation Service Manager, AMIGOS Bibliographic Council, will serve as moderator and give an overview of education efforts across the country, particularly focusing on continuing education activities. Paul N. Banks, Senior Lecturer, Preservation and Conservation Studies, Graduate School of Library and Information Science, The University of Texas at Austin, will talk about his institution's approach to teaching digitization.
