We put our glue brushes in a small amount of water to soak over
night. When we wash them out, the glue is quite diluted by the time
we wash them, and I have had no problems with my sinks clogging up
(we do get an annoying drip now and then).  We do the same thing
with our glue pots as you do, and my student assistants think its
fun to peel out the old glue, trying to keep it in one piece.
Pretty cheap entertainment.
