Henry Ford Museum is seeking a Restoration Specialist who will be
responsible for documenting and treating museum artifacts under the
direction of a conservator. The position responsibilities include
doing research on historical fabrication methods and materials to
inform specific restoration projects. The job will focus on the care
and treatment of functional and large objects.

We prefer inquisitive, self-motivated individuals with some
background or college course-work in history, industrial
archaeology, art history, fine art or crafts.  Candidates from
related metal-working and restoration trades wil also be strongly
considered. The successful candidate must be able to work in a team
based museum srtucture, and have strong problem-solving and
communication skills.

Requirements for the position are: a High School Diploma, 4 years of
experience in restoration/conservation activities, knowledge of a
variety of tools and manufacturing processes, and some metal working
(jewlry, welding) experience.

This is a Full Time position, with benefits, salary commensurate with
experience.
