The Pittsburgh Regional Library Center has scheduled a workshop
entitled "Introduction to Conservation Bookbinding." The workshop
will be taught by Melissa McAfee, Preservation Librarian, University
of Pittsburgh.

This two day hands-on workshop will provide an introduction to
conservation book repair methods and their applications. Each
participant will learn how to do a rebacking, a repair method in
which the original covers of the book are retained, as well as a
complete rebinding. Other simple repairs including cleaning methods,
paper repairs, and tip-ins will be covered. Bookbinding supplies and
equipment will also be discussed. The course is limited to 8
registrants.

For more information, call Beth Balogh at 412.825.0600/mbb [at] prlc__org.

This workshop is underwritten in part by the National Endowment for
