Subject: Mothballs
Jerry Shiner's solution to infested new arrivals for collections sounds appealing, but I think the original question involved what to do about the odor of materials that had already been mothballed. The answer is to air the materials. The odor will dissipate. Caution: the mothballs contain chemicals which should be handled according to safety rules--use rubber gloves and masks, especially if you have sensitivity to such materials.
