The Georgia Department of Archives and History (GDAH) , a division
of the Office of the Secretary of State has been awarded a one year
grant from the National Center for Preservation Technology and
Training (NCPTT).  Part of the National Park Service, under the
Department of the Interior,  the NCPTT received nearly 200 proposals
during this grant cycle and selected 31 for funding.

The goal of this project is to implement a multi-faceted outreach
training program for local governments, and is designed to serve as
a model for other states.  This program will feature regional
day-long training workshops that will highlight topics related to
preservation and records management. Follow-up on-site consultations
and the production of technical leaflets will also be significant
components of this project.

The Archives is seeking a preservation professional to assist the
staff Conservator in developing this pilot training module,
participate in on-site training and outreach, and prepare hardcopy
and electronic publications for distribution.  Because this position
involves extensive travel throughout Georgia, a valid driver's
license is required.

Qualified candidates will have had graduate training in
preservation, archival administration, library science or history.
Applicants must demonstrate strong written and oral communication
skills.  Prior teaching experience, work with archives collections
and computer fluency are highly desirable.

Position will begin 15 November 1995.  Salary $26,000.   Questions
