Subject: Conservation services needed
I am negotiating at present for the acquisition of a large number of architectural drawings, blueprints, and books. The drawings are badly in need of conservation work (they are mounted to acidic boards, many of which are buckling), and they are on fairly acidic papers. Can anyone suggest 1) organizations to go to for grants for the conservation of these materials; 2) names of people or businesses (preferably in the southern California area) who can do this kind of work; 3) names of others who have had experience with such materials? Thank you. **** Moderator's comments: The Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation (FAIC) has a referral service which will help you find a conservator in a particular specialty and geographic area.
