Preserve/Net Law

From: Robert Pick <rep2>
Date: Thursday, August 24, 1995
The National Council for Preservation Education announces its newest
online offering, Preserve/Net Law Service.

Designed as a companion to the original Preserve/Net, our new Law
service will offer detailed information relating to preservation and
planning. This service is intended to be used by not just
preservationists, but attorneys, city planners and advocates as a
primary source for preservation-related legal information.
Offerings will include:

    * Full text of major federal, state and local legislation
    * Full text of important court cases
    * Local ordinance guidelines and examples
    * Extensive discussion of the "takings" issue
    * Examples of effective easements with explanations
    *   Information on aesthetic regulation
    *   Religious properties issues
    *   Section 106 information
    * Legal analysis from authors across the country

Preserve/Net Law went online August 17, 1995 and displays a modest
initial offering. Over the next several months we will be expanding
the information database tremendously. Its companion, Preserve/Net,
has hosted some 200,000 connections since its introduction in
December of 1994.

Both services can be accessed at http://www.crp.cornell.edu/ As
always, comments and suggestions are appreciated.
