Silicone coated polyester films

Does anyone have any experience with the coating on silicone
polyester films coming off with application of solvents? We ordered
some from Archivart. They claim their film to be Mylar D coated on
both sides with silicone. It has a foggy appearance which is made
clear and loses its stick-free characteristic upon application of
acetone on a cotton swab. Another type, which we originally ordered
from Conservation Materials and is described as silicone coated
Mylar (one sided) appears more stable. Does anyone have information
concerning the processes used during manufacture of these products,
especially those used in the application of the silicone to the
film? If so, would one application result in a coating that's more
susceptible than another?

I've tried calling a number of companies, many of which no longer
carry Mylar coated on one side with silicone, i.e. Conservation
Materials no longer carries it but now carries silicone coated
Polyfilm (polyester film) which they get from University products.
Does anyone have any further information or sources for this
material?
