Subject: Workshop on library collections
Librarians, do you know how to make your books and materials last as long as your patrons need them? Do you want to learn how to stretch the value of your materials budget over a longer period? Plan to attend Caring For Your High-Use Collections, a SOLINET workshop hosted by the Central Florida Library Consortium in Maitland, Florida, on Monday, September 25, 1995. This workshop is designed for public, school and college librarians, and will discuss approaches and techniques to help you keep your collections in usable condition longer. Topics to be covered include preservation as a management tool, the environment, fostering good attitudes about books, teaching proper handling to staff and public, treatment options, and decision-making (what to preserve, what to leave alone). The course will be conducted by Robert DeCandido, Head of Shelf and Binding Preparation Office, Preservation Divisions, The New York Public Library. The session will run from 9 am to 4 pm, at a cost of $85 SOLINET members, $90 FEDLINK, and $125 non-SOLINET members. A $10 discount is offered if you register before September 4th. Contact Steve Eberhardt of SOLINET, 1-800-999-8558 ext 285, for further information or to register. *** Conservation DistList Instance 9:18 Distributed: Wednesday, August 23, 1995 Message Id: cdl-9-18-010 ***Received on Monday, 21 August, 1995
