Technical Support Specialist, Preservation Services.

Responsibilities:

Preservation Resources, a division of OCLC, located in Bethlehem,
PA, is a not-for-profit  organization providing preservation
microfilming and scanning services to the library and archive
community.

The Technical Support Specialist provides computer-assisted
operations support at Preservation Resources, including development
and maintenance of tracking, production and project databases for
project support, the production and analysis of statistical reports,
assistance in the implementation and execution of image-based
projects, including scanning operations, indexing, and mounting
image databases on the Internet.  Entry level opportunity to develop
skills and knowledge in imaging technology for library applications.

This position 1). maintains organizational hardware and software
infrastructure in a primarily Macintosh environment, including the
desktop computers, networks, communication software and peripherals;
2). develops and maintains production databases, including data
entry and generation of weekly, monthly, and annual statistical
reports; 3). develops and maintains project tracking databases as
needed; 4). provides technical support to all levels of staff in
software and hardware needs; 5). provides client support for
electronic products.

Qualifications: BA in information science or in a computer-related
discipline. Master's from an ALA-accredited program preferred or
experience in information/library environment. Knowledge of
Macintosh and Windows operating systems. Knowledge of LAN systems.
Proficiency in the following applications: Excel, Word, Filemaker
Pro, Visual Basic, Hypercard, Adobe Photoshop. Requires ability to
work independently with in a change-oriented, deadline-driven
environment.
