Moisture Muncher

I have received an unusual product in the mail. It is called a
Moisture Muncher and appears to be a linen cloth bag containing
silica gel for removing moisture in boxes, etc.

The makers point out that they only use recycled silica gel and say
that the 'muncher's' claim to fame is that it will not leak the
moisture it has taken up and so it is quite safe to use with paper,
textiles and metal.

My question is this has anyone out there come across these things
and how does their performance compare to standard silica gel in
paper sachets.
