Thermobia domestica

The thermobia domestica is in the order thysanura and Family
Lepismatidae. It is very closely related to the silverfish (Lepisma
saccharina) commonly found in the US. The main difference in the
two seems to be that silverfish prefer warm and moist conditions and
firebrats prefer hot (90+F) conditions and can take much drier
conditions. We have seen both in the museum. Regular cleaning
seems to be the best prevention and control.
