Subject: Water damage to postage stamps
As a first, relatively safe treatment, place the stamps face up on damp blotting paper. When they flatten, you can place some weight on top e.g. a glass sheet. Periodically replace the blotter. You will see the discolouration bleed out onto the blotter. As the stamps are face up, any problems will be obvious, and you can take them off immediately. It is quite slow, which avoids nasty surprises. I am assuming that you have written off the original adhesive at this stage. Dry them under blotters, ideally with silicone release paper under the sticky side (it is the stuff you peel off the back of sticky plastic).
