Curled nitrate negatives

There is a terrifying article on how to remove the nitrate base and re-line
with modern film: The Conservation of Photographs, Eastman Kodak
Co., 1985, ISBN 0-87985-352-2.

If you have a lot to do it may be worth getting the hang of this, or
sending them to a professional conservator. (I can suggest names)

Apparently you can soften them with vapour (or presumably brief
immersion) from 2-butanone, but I have never tried it. I expect they
may become sticky. Test on unwanted stock first. Don't forget:
nitrate film is *very* inflammable.
