Foil-backed book labels

In reply to Susan Moons' inquiry about foil backed labels peeling
off, we, too, have had problems with these labels in the past six
months. In fact, we have tried a variety of labels, and none seem to
stay on the books. Buckram covered books from our commercial bindery
are the worst, but it happens to some extent with almost every book.
We have now gone to using label protectors, but don't feel these are
going to stay on either.  We have attributed it to LOW humidity in
our building, so it is interesting that Susan thinks it may be due
to HIGH humidity.  I, too, would love to hear other experiences with
this frustrating problem.
