Subject: Paper clips
Our special collections librarian has been using Acco plastic paper clips on a number of documents but discovered that they are damaging material. The "lip" of these paper clips has a raised "dot" which is apparently tearing the pages of the material shelved next to it. George is aware of stainless steel clips but seems to prefer plastic; he is considering switching to Baumgarten Plastiklips. Is anyone else using either of these paper clips? What has your experience been? Have you used plastic paper clips with archival/special materials over an extended period of time? Your comments are appreciated.
