Subject: Disaster recovery companies
This request is being posted in an attempt to locate companies which offer comprehensive disaster recovery services for both buildings and contents (equipment and collections). To my knowledge Munters Moisture Control Services and Document Reprocessors are frequently mentioned for document recovery and environmental stabilization but not extensive building and equipment clean-up. The Restoration Company, however, probably best known for the recovery of the World Trade Center buildings and contents after the bombing, seems to offer a broad array of services. Is anyone familiar with this company's record as it pertains to libraries and archives? A small group of such clients are listed among the company's references. If any of you are familiar with this company or others like it or even better, have recently required recovery services, would you be so kind as to share your experience or simply some thoughts on this topic. Thank you. **** Moderator's comments: Check Conservation OnLine. There's a fair amount of disaster-related material there. Frederick N.
