In reply to the above query; Australian Archives has available a four
page technical paper entitled "Photocopying and Laser Printing Processes
- Their Stability and Permanence", which is available free of charge. A
*very* brief summary of the information provided in the paper is that
long term stability of laser printed documents is dependent on three
main factors,

    1. the quality of paper used

    2. the degree of adhesion between toner and paper

    3. the type of pigment employed in the toner

Wendy should be able to get a copy by contacting the Victorian State
Office of Australian Archives at:

    GPO Box 4325PP
    Melbourne VIC 3001 or,

    Custody And Preservation Section
    Australian Archives National Office
    PO Box 34
    Dickson ACT 2602
    Australia
