HVAC systems

This question is posted on behalf of a without email access.

    What is a good "trial" time period for a newly  installed HVAC
    system to operate before moving collections into the building? The
    intended storage areas have never been climate controlled and they
    will be the vaults for artwork on paper. The building is about 10
    years old. Any help by way of literature or experience is
    appreciated.
