Northeast Document Conservation Center, in Andover, Massachusetts, seeks candidates for the position of Field Service Director. The position manages consulting, information, and education services for this oldest and largest regional conservation center for books, photographs, and paper objects. The director of Field Service provides preservation information to NEDCC's regional/national audience of libraries, archives, and historical collections with help from a staff of two and the resources of conservation, microfilm, and photoreprography expertise within the organization. This high-visibility position reports to NEDCC's Director. Some travel is required. Collections management experience and an advanced degree in a related field are highly desirable; appropriate experience may be substituted for academic training. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience; benefits are excellent. The position is currently funded through July 1998; the 15-year-old Field Service Office is a core function of NEDCC services.
