Removing photograph from glass

In response to Patsy McCarty's follow up on her photograph stuck to
glass problem in which they were

>...able to soak it off with out damaging the photograph. "

and then,

>This works especially well with resin prints; gelatin prints may not
>come free, depending on the amount of area and the length of time stuck
>to the glass.

I am pleased that they were able to remove the photograph in question
from the glass, but I would like to strongly urge that others who may be
confronting the problem of photographs stuck to glass consult a
photograph conservator before attempting such treatment. There are many
variables that can effect the successful removal of photographs from
glass (if it is possible at all) and it is important that these
treatments be approached cautiously. I realize that not everyone has
immediate access to a photograph conservator but the AIC referral
service will help to locate people in your area. The AIC office can be
contacted at: 1(202) 452-9545.
