LAPNet Announces Earthquake Workshop
January 19 1995

In response to the one-year anniversary of the Northridge earthquake,
the Los Angeles Preservation Network will present "Bracing for the Next
One--Earthquake Recovery and Preparedness". This one-day workshop on
earthquake recovery and disaster planning will take place January 19,
1995 at the Huntington Library in San Marino. Speakers from area
libraries, including Cal State Northridge and UCLA, will address their
experiences and challenges since the 1994 earthquake, and ways in which
institutions might be better prepared for other seismic events. The
program covers facility upgrading and reinforcement, insurance/FEMA
issues, regional planning and response, personnel challenges, and
disaster planning. The end of the day will feature a break- out session
in which conference participants will discuss improving preparedness in
their home institutions. Cost of the workshop and catered lunch is $25.
