As you probably know, the Paintings Specialty Group of the AIC is
presently in the midst of compiling information to be included in the
Paintings Conservation Catalog. This catalog is to be very similar to
the highly regarded Paper Conservation Catalog. The purpose of the
catalog is to record a variety of conservation treatment procedures. It
will not serve to dictate certain working methods as definitive, nor
provide step-by step instructions for conservation.

The Cincinnati Art Museum Conservation Department has volunteered to
gather information regarding the use of dammar resin as a picture
varnish. In an effort to obtain information from as wide a breadth of
the conservation community as possible, we ask that you take a few
moments to fill out the following survey to describe how dammar is most
often used in your practice.

By sparing just a couple of minutes, you would be making a great
contribution to our profession. For it to be as comprehensive and
useful as possible, we need feedback from everyone. All of the
information will be consolidated into a concise, useful, yet thorough
document.

Please email your response to standard [at] tso__uc__edu or fax it to
513-721-0129, *as soon as possible*. Thank you for your help.
