The Michigan Alliance for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, an
organization representing libraries, archives and museums, is pleased to
announce the publication of the proceedings of its November 1991
conference, "Conserving Cultural Heritage in the 21st century." The
goal of the conference, which was supported by a grant from the Michigan
Humanities Council, was to establish a common preservation agenda for
Michigan through analyzing the state's collective preservation needs and
formulating unified objectives to address those needs.

This 56-page publication constitutes the proceedings of the conference,
including the presentations that provided the philosophical and
historical case for preservation, working sessions reports and
conference evaluation, all presented over a three-day period. It
includes the following:

    * Program presentations by Larry Reger, (NIC), Robert W. Warner,
        (former Archivist of the U.S. and director of the University of
        Michigan Library), Simon Bronner (distinguished professor of
        Folklore and American Studies, Pennsylvania State University),
        and John Eadie, archaeologist and Dean, that provided the
        philosophical and historical case for preservation;

    * working sessions reports from the libraries, archives, historic
        preservation and museum affinity groups; and

    *   the conference evaluation;

    *   appendices
