This is the fourth International Symposium presented by the Technical
Co-ordinating Committee of the audio-visual archive federations.
Previous symposia have been held in Stockholm, Berlin and Ottawa.

The preservation of sound and moving images is a complex task involving
experts from many scientific and technological disciplines. The Joint
Technical Symposium will consider the existing carriers of sound and
images, the inherent and man-made dangers of decay and deterioration,
preservation and restoration techniques as well as the latest storage
formats.

The Symposium is designed to inform and interest all those concerned
with the long term preservation of information and carriers. The papers
deal with basic and state-of-the-art technologies at a level
understandable to technical and non-technical personnel in archives,
libraries and industry. The full Proceedings will be published after the
event and sent to all participants as well as being available for
separate purchase.

Cost: 200.00 pounds for members of FIAF, FIAT, IASA, ICA and IFLA 250.00
pounds for non-members.
