    National Park Service Director Roger Kennedy Selects New Executive
    Director for the National Center for Preservation Technology and
    Training

    National Park Service Director Roger Kennedy announced the selection
    of John Robbins as the new Executive Director of the National Center
    for Preservation Technology and Training located at Northwestern
    State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.  Robbins assumes the
    position on September 4, 1994.

    Robbins is a resident of Oxford, Mississippi, where he is sole
    principal of an architectural firm specializing in historic
    preservation. During his career, John has had extensive experience
    in the preservation field, including previous work for the National
    Park Service where he was affiliated with the Denver Service Center,
    and with the North Atlantic Historic Preservation Center as project
    architect on the restoration of the Statue of Liberty.  During his
    ten years with the Park Service, Robbins won awards for his work on
    Fort Stanwix and the Lowell National Historical Park.  Robbins has
    been active in preservation in Mississippi as well as in other
    states including California, New York, and Pennsylvania.  A graduate
    of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Architecture degree
    in 1975, he was recipient of the first Richard Morris Hunt
    Fellowship in Historic Preservation in 1990.  Robbins is a member of
    the American Institute of Architects, Society of Architectural
    Historians, the Mississippi Heritage Trust, and the Mississippi
    Historical Society.  He will be moving to Natchitoches with his wife
    Laura Elkins and their two children.

    The National Center was created by the 1992 Amendments to the
    National Historic Preservation Act to coordinate and promote
    preservation research, distribute information, and provide training
    in preservation skills and technologies.
