Storage of large-format glass plate negatives

You want to store glass negatives in protective 4-flap folders and them
vertically. Same size plates together. Provide some support so there
is not danger of them cracking from pressure. Do not overstuff the shelf
or box.

Flat storage is not the best because of pressure and the potential of
the edges breaking when smaller items get sandwiched between larger
items.

You might speak to the [someone in the] AIC Photographic Materials Group
or IPI if you have more questions. Also Gaylord Bros. has a new
pathfinder #3 on photographic materials that is free. I do not know if
they cover glass plates. 315-457-5070
