Durability of printing inks

In reply to Hal Bohner <bohner [at] crl__com>, re: Durability of printing
inks.

CEI (Comite europeen des associations des fabriquants de peintures et
d'encres d'imprimerie) recommendations 12-66 and 13-67 are for high
quality pigments for letterpress and offset process printing that can be
used to print three and four-colour posters that will resist the effect
of sunlight and pollution for several years.

For a discussion on this, consult chapters 5, 6 and 11 in my book
_History and Practice of Carbon Processes_, Fredericton, Atelier Luis
Nadeau, 1982. It is out of print but can be found in many libraries.

The subject of this book, i.e., carbon processes, refers to dichromated
colloid systems used to produce photographs with pigments. Such
photographs can be extremely permanent when they are produced with a
combination of permanent pigments, binders, and supports.
