Mending tape

From: Gregor Trinkaus-Randall <gtrinkaus>

When working with public librarians and talking about mending pages in
paperbacks and other popular materials that they *know* will be worn out
or discarded within a year or so, I have recommended either Filmoplast
or Document Repair Tape. Recently I have heard about 3M Scotch's "Magic
Plus #811" that supposedly is a "removable, transparent tape". Does
anyone know anything about its adhesives, its pluses and its minuses? I
would like to know before I mention it to anyone. 3M tape has had
problems in the past so I am leary. Thanks.
