Insects and books

From: Robert J. Koestler <rtkcc>
Date: Monday, March 28, 1994
The treatment implemented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for control
of insects in/on books, and all art, uses anoxic treatments
only--usually with argon gas. I have also begun implementing a
treatment program for some 2,000+ 10th-16th century manuscripts at the
Great Lavra Monastery on Mt. Athos, Greece. This work will be presented
at the Second ARSAG International Symposium at the Institut du Monde
Arabe, Paris, May 16-20, 1994. The conference is entitled "Environment
and Conservation of Graphic, Photographic and Audiovisual Documents".
